DUNDEE BLUES BONANZA - 16
2010
INTRODUCTION

On 23RD, 24TH & 25TH OF July, the city of Dundee again hosts its
unique Dundee Blues Bonanza. ‘All Live, All Free, All Blues’, is the
motto of the now famous street level Festival of Blues, which boasts
more than 120 gigs in 30 venues throughout the weekend.
Visitors and musicians now regularly flood into the city from all over
the UK, Europe and far beyond to enjoy and partake in what is
proclaimed to be the ‘Best Free Blues Music Festival in the World’.
This year thanks to the generosity of the Angus and Dundee innovation
and development fund, the committee are delighted to be able to
re-instate the now traditional international promotional event which
does so much to highlight Dundee’s involvement on the world’s music
stage and promote tourism.
This year the event will be held in Dukes Corner in Brown Street and
features Mud Morganfield, who is the eldest son of the legendry
‘Father of the Blues; Muddy Waters’. On his first visit to Scotland,
he will be supported by Giles Robson and the Dirty Aces.
Lil’ Jimmy Reed from Alabama returns again to the city he loves to
play his blues with his ‘Kick Ass’ Band.

JUNIOR BONANZA

This year, with the co-operation of the Dundee Contemporary Arts we
are following up on last year’s successful Junior Blues Workshop.
This event will take place on the top floor of the DCA between 11am
and 3pm on Sunday 25th July. A number of artists have already offered
their services to this venture, including Lil’ Jimmy Reed, Angela
Brown, Bob Hall and many others. Instruments covered will be Blues
vocals, electric, acoustic and slide blues guitar, harmonica, blues &
boogie piano, blues drumming and more. The event will be followed up
by a concert in the Jute Bar, where we hope to feature some of the
young people involved.

ANGELA BROWNS BIG BONANZA PARTY.

This weekend celebrations culminate in the Angela Brown Big Bonanza
Party, which will be held in Deja vu on Sunday 25th, and will include
the above artists and is to be hosted by First Lady of Blues and
Gospel Angela Brown, who hails from Chicago via Frankfurt in Germany.
